At the May 11, 2021 Madison Board of Education meeting, Mr. Bruno lamented bias in news sources available to students.
"My concern is living in a digital environment and having kids do research on Chromebook and writing reports. The source of their information gets to be key. One of the things they use is Newsela. ... And it's a log on to the web website and you can query and you you bring up news reports, but if you look at the source of the news, it's one sided. It ends up is it education or does it become? Indoctrination, because you're only seeing one point. I would suggest you know for something for curriculum to discuss is that every student has to do a point counterpoint. Give me the positive part of the argument. Give me the opposing point of the argument and then in class you have a discussion."
